Visiting the site

Boscoreale is a town situated at the foothills of Mount Vesuvius, to the north of Pompeii, identified by some as Pagus Augustus Felix Suburbanus. Thanks to its fertile land it has been inhabited since proto-history (Fossakultur tombs) and was resettled after the eruption of 79 AD (spas of Via Casone Grotta, 2nd-3rd century AD). During the Roman era it was home to many villas and farms that grew grapes, olives and cereals, one of them is near this archeological site, in which is located also the Antiquarium, the museum of ancient food and lifestyle.
