Pompeii's necropolis

Together with the ancient city they allow you to have an exceptional archaeological context of the whole, almost complete, of all areas present in a Roman colony on an existing city sannitica.
These are areas of the archaeological site of Pompeii that are characterized by the wealth of funerary types present, for the chance to see how the great defensive walls serve as the sill between the city of the living and that of the dead, and, not least, for the their inherent beauty.
In addition, the necropolis of Porta Nocera retains many messages from the past as the stone inscriptions affixed on the monuments by their owners, or those who announce the games in the amphitheater or even those carved by passers who went to Nocera across the road into the graves and left on the walls of their fleeting remarks.
The Great Project Pompeii is now operating on a daily basis around the ancient center intra moenia and some areas outside the walls, but not on the necropolis of Porta Nocera. Through the collaboration proposal by a group of international partners, the Superintendent intends to complete the restoration, preservation and reconstruction, even virtual, of funerary landscape of this picturesque point of Pompei.

This project is done with the contribution of:
- International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM),
- IBAM-CNR di Catania-Lecce,
- Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (doct. Albrecht Matthaei),
- Technische Universität  of Munchen (TUM)
