Luggage and bags not allowed inside

Bags, backpacks and luggage: Forbidden to bring into Archaeological Sites
We wish to inform our visitors and all interested parties (Schools, Tour Operators, Tour Guides etc.) that, in order to protect the frescoes and rooms of the archaeological areas under this Superintendency, and to guarantee the safety of all, as of the 15th January 2015, bags, backpacks, luggage and cases whose dimensions exceed 30x30x15cm are NOT permitted within the sites of Pompeii, Herculaeneum, Oplontis, Stabia and the Museo di Boscoreale.
Visitors may leave their personal belongings at the free cloakrooms present at all access points to the sites.
However, in light of the fact that at times of increased visitor numbers, the cloakrooms present on the premises may not be sufficient to hold the baggage of all visitors, we appeal to the sense of collaboration of visitors to the archaeological sites in order that the new regulations may be fully applied.
In particular, teachers who are accompanying visiting students are requested to ensure that their students leave their backpacks on their buses or other means of transport with which they reach the sites.
Similarly, Tour Operators, guides and tour leaders are requested to inform visitors of the STRICT ban on the introduction of baggage within the archaeological sites, and to invite them to leave personal effects on board their means of transport.
